The say everything is bigger in Texas. When it comes to Italian restaurant options in Dallas, that certainly holds true. The city has lots of opportunities to take part in outdoor activities as well. The 24-parks provide more than 61,000 miles of trails which are ideal for walking, jogging and hiking. After a busy afternoon outdoors, visitors should consider visiting one of these restaurants to refuel.

Alfonso's Italian Restaurant

Alfonso's opened in 1982 and is named after the owner's father. It serves made to order pizza and pasta. Although it may take a little longer to get your food, Alfonso's prides themselves on this detail to food. It has numerous specials: Pasta Pomodora, Slicked Pork Tenderloin, Chicken Venice and Camille's Seafood Special. It also offers weeknight specials on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It has standard pizza toppings, such as sausage, pepperoni, mushroom and olives. It also has a few unique vegetable toppings, such as squash, zucchini and broccoli. One nice feature is that unlike some restaurants, Alfonso's entire menu is available for lunch.

Amore Restaurant

Amore has been serving Italian fare in the University Park area of Dallas for more than 25 years. It is open daily and serves a weekday lunch. Most items on the menu come in a lunch portion size, for those wanting a smaller meal, and dinner portion size, for those wanting a little more food. The specialties are too numerous to list but some of the highlights are Fettucine Tetrazzini, Veal and Shrimp Marsala, and Vegetable Lasagna. It takes reservations for any size party even if its just a matter of minutes before guests show up to their door.

Angelo's

Angelo's is located in the Lakewood Shopping Center. The extensive menu offers both lunch and dinner selections. For those with a big appetite, Angelo's offers a weekday lunch buffet and a Sunday brunch buffet. For those having a hard time choosing just one meal option, Angelo's has four samplers that offer a variety of their menu selections.

Mi Piaci

Mi Piaci is an award-winning restaurant, having captured many titles since 1991. Most recently, Mi Piaci was voted the best Italian restaurant in Texas for 2006, 2007 and 2008 by Zagat. The menu features a wide array of salads, pastas and risotto complemented by chicken, tuna and beef.

Vitto Italian

In addition to the extensive menu of Italian fare, Vitto's offers guests the ability to create their own pasta dish or pizza. The menu provides many non-traditional pizza options, including a Thai-style pizza, an alfredo pizza and one named a "Cardiac Pizza," which comes topped with beef, sausage, Canadian bacon, bacon and pepperoni. True to the spirit of everything being bigger in Texas, the pizza by the slice option is a quarter of a 16-inch pizza-- a meal in itself.
