Cabins Near Whippoorwill, Oklahoma
Just 18 miles from the state's northern border with Kansas, Whippoorwill, Okla., lies within the Osage Indian Reservation. Whippoorwill is a tiny town at the southern tip of Hulah Reservoir, so your best bet for cabin-style lodging is in nearby Pawhuska, located about 20 miles southwest. The Osage Hills State Park in Pawhuska offers an 18-acre lake with boating and swimming as well as a diverse trail system for hiking and mountain biking. In addition to providing a headquarters to the Osage Nation, this area is one of the last places in the country where you can glimpse the open prairie as early settlers did---pure and unspoiled.
