Cabins in Atoka, Oklahoma

Cabins in Atoka, Oklahoma
Atoka is a small community, but there is a lot to do in the area to keep the outdoor enthusiast entertained. McGee Creek State Park is a few miles to the southeast and offers visitors some of the finest fishing in the state of Oklahoma in its well-stocked lake. Anglers can trophy fish for both large mouth and small mouth bass, perch, catfish, crappie and other species. The National Scenic Recreation Area in the northern part of the park also has over 30 miles of trails to hike or explore on mountain bike.

McGee Creek State Park

Visitors wanting to stay in the park itself can rent one of the eight small cabins the park service calls "huts" located near the Potapo campground. The cabins come equipped with one set of bunk beds with mattresses, but guests must bring their own linens. Air conditioning, fireplace and a table and chairs are included in the interior amenities, and there is a barbecue grill outside. There is no indoor plumbing in the cabins but water is available out back, while shared restrooms and showers are located nearby. Although the cabins are somewhat primitive, the screened-in porch offers a great view of the lake. Lake fishing is a popular activity, and the attached reservoir is good for water-skiing. Cabins rent for $50 a night in 2010.
