In addition to some very nice RV parks, you will discover a wealth of opportunities for hiking around the Dallas area. The Downtown Dallas Urban Trail offers an easy, four-mile trail that highlights the urban beauty of the city. White Rock Lake Trail is one of the most popular in the city for bikers, hikers and skaters.

Dallas/Arlington KOA

You'll find 100-foot pull-throughs and 50-amp sites at this Dallas KOA campground. Bring your tent if you want to get away from the luxury of the RV for a night as there are excellent tent campgrounds here. This very clean and well-maintained site features a convenience store, barbecue grills and free wireless Internet. The large swimming pool opens from May 15 to October 1, and there is also a playground for the kids. A natural creek is a great place to take a hike up and down, or you can rent bikes and go for a two-wheel tour. This KOA site also features a rec room and family park. The Dyno-Rock Indoor Climbing Gym is located nearby.

Lone Oak RV Park

The Lone Oak RV Park can be found on the northern shore of Lake Ray Roberts. This location makes Lone Oak an ideal choice for RV-ers who are looking to spend a good chunk of their vacation casting their line into the water and reeling back big catfish, crappie and black bass. This Dallas area resort offers full hook-ups, pull-through and 30/50 amp service. You'll be thankful the laundry is air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. The lake also offers the chance for swimming if fishing isn't your thing, and there is storage space for a boat. Another benefit of staying here is that Lone Oak RV Park is just 10 minutes away from Camping World, a superstore where you can shop for all your camping needs.

Trader's Village Grand Prairie Park

Trader's Village Grand Prairie Park is part of a complex that also includes a 10-acre flea market that is open on the weekends. The 212 RV-only sites offer pull-through parking, and each has a picnic table and barbecue pit. The resort features a rec hall, swimming pool and a playground for the kids. Nearby attractions include the River Legacy Trail, a 5.46-mile easily walked paved trail that provides a scenic view of the river itself.
