RV Parks in North Florida

RV Parks in North Florida
Blessed with a plenty of greenery and easy access to either the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean, North Florida offers a range of options for outdoors enthusiasts, including RV campers. One is never very far from a beach, a river or a deep forest in the broad stretch of land that is northern Florida, and there are plenty of RV parks that are geared toward a favorite sport or near a specific destination.

Destin RV Beach Resort

This 36-site RV park is only a short, one-block walk from Miramar Beach. The park is a private, gated, pet-friendly RV resort with brick-paved drives and tropical landscaping. Site hook-ups include water, electric, sewer, cable television and wireless Internet. The park is pet-friendly and has a heated outdoor swimming pool, private bathrooms with tiled showers and a laundry room. The park has daily, weekly and monthly rates for its RV spaces, and also rents one-bedroom and studio apartments. In addition to beach activities, the Destin area offers deep-sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, snorkeling and scuba diving, and is about 20 miles from the Choctawhatchee River Water Management Area with its rivers and wetlands.

Big Oak RV Park

Located in the Tallahassee area, Big Oak RV Park is close to Apalachicola National Forest. The park is set on a shady property, and has over 80 pull-through sites with water, cable, sewer and electric hook-ups. There are also private bathrooms with showers, a laundry room and free wi-fi throughout the park. Big Oak RV Park is also pet-friendly. The site is deep in the interior of northern Florida, roughly 40 miles from the coast. That makes it a good choice for those who are more interested in activities like hiking and nature watching than wind-surfing and deep-sea fishing, although those activities are still less than an hour's drive away.

Hidden River RV Resort

For those who combine the sub-cultures of nudism with RV-ing, there is North Florida's Hidden River RV Resort. The resort operates on a clothing-optional basis, so it is also open to the curious and non-nudists. An 88-acre property set between Jacksonville and the George state line, the park offers RV sites with electric, water and sewer hook-ups, as well as more primitive sites suitable either for RVs (without hook-ups) or tents. The facilities include a hot tub and an outdoor swimming pool. There are walking trails and a private beach along St. Mary's River, and the park offers a shuttle bus to area kayaking and canoeing on the river. The park is pet-friendly and permits horses and horseback riding.
