Cabins in Tahlequah, Oklahoma

Cabins in Tahlequah, Oklahoma
History remembers Tahlequah as the main end point for the Trail of Tears, the 1830s Cherokee relocation into Indian Territory---what is now Oklahoma. Today, tourists come to this northeast Oklahoma town to visit historic sites, gamble at casinos, float the Illinois River and hike area trails. Some local outfitters have rental cabins right on the river.

Arrowhead Resort

In addition to campgrounds, an RV park and group lodging, Arrowhead Resort has river cabins that are open throughout the year. Paved roads connect these cabins, which range from one to four bedrooms and sleep 2 to 16 people. The resort doesn't allow pets in the cabins. Most have kitchens or kitchenettes. Not all of the one-bedroom cabins have bathrooms, but a shower house is nearby. You'll have to bring your own sheets for the bunk beds, plus towels and cookware. Arrowhead Resort offers catered barbecue lunches and dinners for groups. A general store on the property sells picnic supplies, groceries and souvenirs. The resort has canoes, rafts and kayaks for 6- to 12-mile trips. Elephant Rock Nature Park is about 10 miles from Arrowhead Resort.
