Located less than an hour away from Toronto on the Trans-Canadian highway, the hamlet of Newcastle sits on the shores of Lake Ontario. In the town itself, visitors can hike the section of the Waterfront Trail that sits atop a bluff overlooking the Port of Newcastle. The area also has a number of trails in nearby Bowmanville, including Darlington Provincial Park, whose grounds include a historical log cabin and cemetery. In winter, popular outdoor activities include snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and skating on McLaughlin Bay. Not surprisingly, this quaint region has a nice variety of accommodations.

The Hamptons of Newcastle

Two minutes off Highway 401, The Hamptons is a small two-bedroom B&B (be sure to reserve a room beforehand). "The Carrington" has a Queen bed. The "Sitting Room" has a double-pull out. Both rooms have private bathrooms. The Hamptons also has a TV room and garden. Guests can choose either full, continental, buffet, or vegetarian breakfast service.
