Lake Anna was formed in 1972 by a dam in the North Anna River, forming a cooling reservoir for the North Anna Nuclear Power Reactor. The area is now a Civil War history buff's dream, being located 30 minutes from Fredericksburg, and offers an array of fishing opportunities, as well as recreation for boaters, water skiers and swimmers. Two hundred and fifty miles of shoreline provide scenic views, natural woods and an abundance of wildlife.

High Point Marina and Lighthouse Inn

The Lighthouse Inn was established in 1989 as Lake Anna's only waterfront motel. Perched just 70 feet from the water's edge, the Lighthouse Inn offers views over the lake, and the Blue Ridge Mountains peak up in the background. Spacious rooms feature mini refrigerators and microwaves. Guests have access to an electrical hookup for fishermen and private docks for boaters. An on-site snack bar opens during the summer.

Shaffer's Cove at Lake Anna

These resort condos are available for weekend or short-term rentals and are centrally located on Lake Anna, adjacent to Anna Point Marina. The condos feature private boat docking, and each condo has its own assigned slip. Amenities include satellite television with Dish Networking programming and wireless Internet access. There is a recreation area available that features a picnic pavilion with charcoal grills, a golf driving net and a grass volleyball court. Fishing is available from Shaffer's Cove's private boat docking area. This is a pet-friendly resort.

Lake Anna Lodge

Lake Anna Lodge is situated off Route 208 by Lake Anna. There are 27 guest rooms available, all of which feature refrigerators, telephones with complimentary local calls, satellite television and a restaurant with a full-service bar.

Located across the street from the hotel are Sturgeon Creek Marina and Rocky Branch Marina and Campground, and Lake Anna State Park is situated six miles from the hotel.

Littlepage Inn

The Littlepage Inn is a well-preserved, 19th-century Virginia plantation, featuring a main house, farm office, east barn, smokehouse dairy, ice house, barn, stable and gardens. Restored in the early 1990s, this charming inn features modern baths, a kitchen and original antique furnishings from 1811.

There are nine suites available at the Littlepage Inn, all featuring large beds and picture windows or French doors that offer plenty of light and views of the Blue Ridge, the meadow or the inn's gardens. All suites include bathrooms with showers.
