Cabins in Canaan Valley, West Virginia, are within minutes of the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge and include Black Bear Resort, Canaan Valley Resort State Park, and Golden Anchor Luxury Log Cabins. The Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge protects wildlife's habitat and reduces downstream flooding, a less expensive solution. Hiking the 4.53 mile-long Beall Trail offers views of forest, swamp and bog from the north loop, with a spur along the Blackwater River. The southern part of the trail includes grassland and forest with a chance for viewing birds.

Black Bear Resort

Black Bear Resort features amenities such as a fishing pond, fitness trail, swimming pool, picnic areas, playground, miniature golf and lodge area.

All cabins have a full kitchen with a refrigerator, cook-top stove, dishwasher and microwave. The standard cabin is about 600 square feet and sleeps four. One large cabin has a two-person Jacuzzi, while the other does not. Both have 700 square feet and sleep six. The luxury cabin has 800 square feet with three floors, includes a separate spa, and sleeps six. The super deluxe cabins have 1,850 to 2,000 square feet with Jacuzzi tub and sleep eight to 12 people. They have three or four bedrooms with two or three baths.

Canaan Valley Resort State Park

Canaan Valley Resort State Park is located in the Allegheny Mountains. In the winter, amenities include a ski lodge, ice-skating rink, sauna and fitness room. In the summer, amenities include a swimming pool, 18 miles of hiking, and golf course. A wide array of activities year round include snow tubing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, basketball, geocaching, biking, wall climbing, horseshoe pits, paintball, and tennis.

Twenty-three two-, three-, or four-bedroom cabins with full kitchens, fireplaces and linens are available for rental. In addition, the four-bedroom West Virginia cottages, which sleep 12, are also available. The two-bedroom layout sleeps four, the three-bedroom sleeps six, and the four-bedroom sleeps eight. The four-bedroom West Virginia cottages have additional amenities, including a dishwasher and microwave, telephone, cable TV and high speed Internet.

Several on-site dining restaurants include Hickory Dining and Laurel Lounge/Valley View Grill located in the main lodge. The ski area has Bear Paw Food Court and Quenchers Bar.

Golden Anchor Luxury Log Cabins

Golden Anchor Luxury Log Cabins include a fully equipped kitchen, fireplace and sitting area, satellite TV and VCR, hot tub, ceiling fans, and deck or porch. Two bedrooms down, sharing a bath, and a bedroom loft with a queen bed and private bath. The Golden Anchor Restaurant is situated on the southern edge of Canaan Valley, just minutes away.
