Escape the hustle and bustle of New York City and head to Sheepshead Bay in southern Brooklyn. Rent a boat or go swimming in the bay during summer. Enjoy a scenic stroll or bike on nearby Riegelmann Boardwalk, which stretches from Brighton Beach to Coney Island. Prospect Park is less than a half-hour away by subway and offers many activities from ice skating to tennis. Sheepshead Bay is eight miles to JFK airport and 15 miles to LaGuardia Airport, and all of Sheepshead's hotels are located less than a few blocks from the water.

Pets are not allowed. Kultur, which is adjacent to the hotel, has food, entertainment and dancing. There are several other restaurants within a five-minute walk. Swimming is very popular in Sheepshead Bay and not just during the summer. Every Sunday during the winter months in Coney Island, the New York City Polar Bear Club gets together for a swim.

Best Western Brooklyn Bay

The Best Western Brooklyn Bay was built in 2007 and is just a few minutes walk to the bay and Miramar Yacht Club. The hotel features an exercise facility that is open 24 hours a day, complimentary breakfast and free parking. All 48 rooms are decorated in shades of orange and yellow and feature free wireless high-speed Internet. Some come with a refrigerator. There are 20 nonsmoking rooms. Pets are not allowed. There are several restaurants and shops that are located less than a few miles from the hotel. The Roll-N-Roaster, famed for its roast beef, is located less than one block from the hotel.

Golden Gate Inn

The Golden Gate Inn was built in 1964 and underwent major renovations in 1998. One of the improvements was the addition of an on-site restaurant and bar and the redecoration of all 144 guest rooms. Four room types are available: king, queen or two full size beds, or a family room. Smoking and nonsmoking rooms are available. Amenities include complimentary wireless Internet in rooms, free parking, free breakfast, and somewhat unusual in the New York City area: an outdoor pool and patio. Nearby in Coney Island and right off the boardwalk is KeySpan Park, where the Brooklyn Cyclones play minor league baseball during the summer.
