4 Star Hotels Near the Thalys Train Station in Paris
Thalys is a high speed international train that travels between Paris, France; Brussels, Belgium; Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Koln, Germany; and Geneva, Switzerland. Traveling at speeds up to 186 miles per hour, traveling on the Thalys is often faster than flying and more comfortable due to the large seats, dining and bar cars. In Paris, Thalys trains leave from the Gare du Nord station. If you are traveling on the Thalys and wish to stay near the train station, the following four-star luxury hotels are close to Gare du Nord and many Paris landmarks.

Crowne Plaza-Paris Republique

The four-star Crowne Plaza Paris Republique is located less than a mile from Gare du Nord. Housed in an elegant 18th century French chateau, the 328-room hotel has large, comfortable rooms with king beds or two double beds, in-room refrigerators and Internet access. Other amenities include a fitness center and one of the largest American style breakfast buffets in Paris. Centrally located at the Republique metro station, you can easily ride the five metro lines to anywhere within Paris in minutes. The Marais district and the historic square, Place des Vosges, is a half mile stroll from the hotel. For runners, a few blocks away is the Canal St. Martin, a perfect place for a leisurely jog along the Seine.

Kube Hotel

Located less than a half mile from the Thalys train station, the Kube Hotel is a great choice if you are looking for a luxury boutique hotel with a contemporary twist. Home to Paris' only ice bar, a vodka bar where all items--chairs, bar, glasses, etc.--are carved out of ice, the 40 rooms are designed with an icy, glass theme. Beds are covered in white linens, with fur comforters and wall hangings, with seats and tables made of cut glass. The glass cubed headboard behind the bed doubles as a wall for an in-room rainfall shower. Each room is equipped with Internet access and a TV and CD/DVD entertainment system. For a workout, climb the long flights of stairs in Montmartre to the Sacre Cour Cathedral, rent a bike and ride to the Eiffel Tower or jog in the nearby Parc de Buttes Charmont. If you don't wish to walk 15 minutes to the train station, the hotel will drive you in its Lexus hybrid SUV.

Located approximately a mile from Gare du Nord, the Ritz is famous for its service with three staff members for every guest, and the over-the-top opulence of the rooms. For relaxation, check out the Ritz spa for massages and beauty treatments. Don't pass up the chance to swim in the stunning indoor pool, considered one of the most beautiful in Paris, then stretch out on the comfortable lounge chairs with a glass of champagne. The Louvre and Tuileries Gardens are a short walk from the hotel, and a great place to jog with a scenic view of Paris' most famous landmarks.
