Onancock is a small historic town on Virginia's Eastern Shore, situated between two forks of a creek. Bicyclists can enjoy many miles of flat road biking through the countryside, including the 35-mile-long Eastern Shore Ramble trail. Kayakers and canoeists can enjoy paddling the various local creeks that empty into the Chesapeake Bay. They can also paddle the Chesapeake Bay itself or the many barrier islands on the Atlantic side, including the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.

The Charlotte Hotel and Restaurant

The Charlotte Hotel is located only four blocks from the harbor on Onancock Creek. Canoeists and kayakers will find that they are only four blocks from the Onancock wharf and Onancock Creek. From here they can explore the creek or paddle all the way out to explore the Chesapeake Bay. They also can drive 11 miles to Wachapreague, where they can put their boats in the Atlantic and explore various bays and creeks, or 35 miles to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge to paddle its many islands.
