Wheeling is a city in the northern panhandle of West Virginia. It is an hour away from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and two hours from Columbus, Ohio. In addition, the city of Wheeling itself has a lot to offer outdoor enthusiasts, including part of the 14-mile Greater Wheeling Trail. Some visitors to the Friendly City enjoy staying in the cabins or cottages in this beautiful, semi-rural area.

Oglebay Park and Resort

Located just minutes from downtown Wheeling, Oglebay Park and Resort is a destination for many travelers. In addition to the 270 rooms available at Wilson Lodge, Oglebay provides a number of cabins for rental throughout the year. Three different kinds of cabins give visitors the choice of how they want to spend their vacations. Each Premium Cottage is 5,000 square feet with eight bedrooms and all of the amenities of home, including a full kitchen and laundry room. Deluxe Cottages are smaller with four bedrooms. Finally, Traditional Cottages have four bedrooms with smaller living areas than the Deluxe Cottages. Cottage guests can enjoy the many features of Oglebay Park's 1,700 acres, including many hiking trails and outdoor activities.

Park View Chalets

Located on three acres, just a mile south of Oglebay Park, Park View Chalets are small enough for family gatherings and large enough for parties and other special occasions. Maple Chalet has three bedrooms, two baths, a deck and a large porch. Poplar Chalet offers four bedrooms, two baths, and all of the amenities of home, including a full kitchen and laundry room. Each cottage includes a campfire trench, swing set, picnic table, and horseshoe pit.

Grand Vue Park

Visitors who wish to enjoy more of the scenery of northern West Virginia and avoid the hustle and bustle of city life in the evenings often drive down to Moundsville to enjoy the cabins at Grand Vue Park. Just 15 minutes from Wheeling, Grand Vue Park is a 650 acre, wooded park that offers several cabins from which to choose, including Standard Cabins (four bedrooms), Deluxe Cabins (two-stories and four bedrooms), Cottages (two bedrooms), and a premium cabin called The Eagle (three bedrooms and a large recreation room). Guests at Grand Vue can enjoy walking trails, miniature Par 3, swimming in an Olympic-sized pool, and many other outdoor activities.
