Watauga is a rural town near Johnson City in the far northeast corner of Tennessee. The town is surrounded on the east by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Just a few miles from Watauga is the expanse of the Cherokee National Forest and Watauga Lake, both popular sites for campers, hikers and anglers. Mountaineers can explore the mountains along the North Carolina-Tennessee border.
