Portland, Oregon's Best Vegan Restaurants

Portland, Oregon's Best Vegan Restaurants
In 2008, the editors of "VegNews" named Portland the Veg City Taking Over the World. This came as no surprise to local vegans, who have long been proud of their hometown's interest in local and sustainable agriculture, fresh ingredients and innovative cuisine. If planning on visiting Portland, travelers can plan on enjoying a variety of animal-free meals around town.

Old Wives' Tales

If longevity is a sign of quality, Old Wives' Tales ranks among Portland's best. Having first opened its doors in 1980, Old Wives' Tales continues to enthrall vegan diners with its extensive menu, 90 percent of which is also gluten-free. Popular menu items include the Hungarian mushroom soup, tofu scramble with roasted potatoes and Moroccan oatmeal with soymilk. Old Wives' Tales is open Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
