Campgrounds With Cabins Near Hillsborough County, Florida
Hillsborough County is home to the cities of Tampa, Plant City and Temple Terrace in west-central Florida. A small part of the county borders the Gulf of Mexico, and bays, creeks and rivers offer opportunities for exploring the water. Area parks provide more than 100 miles of recreational trails, the Alafia River State Park features hiking, fishing and advanced mountain bike trails, and Hillsborough River State Park offers bike and canoe rentals.

Lake Louisa State Park

Lake Louisa State Park offers cabin camping on the lake and is about an hour from Tampa, in Clermont. The park has six lakes for fishing, canoeing or kayaking, and 20 miles of hiking trails. The cabins sit lakeside and feature two bedrooms, full kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, air-conditioning and a fireplace or wood stove. Each cabin also has a screened-in porch.
This park allows pets in some guest areas, but pets are forbidden inside the cabins or surrounding area. Guests need reservations for a cabin site, and there is a two-night minimum stay on weekends and holidays.

Myakka River State Park

Fourteen miles of the Myakka River flow through this state park 10 minutes east of Interstate 75 in Sarasota. One of the oldest and largest state parks in Florida, this park features 39 miles of nature trails, the Myakka Canopy Walkway, a bird walk on the upper lake, and kayaks, canoes or bikes for rent. The Myakka River State Park cabins sleep up to six people in two double beds and a sofa bed, and each offers a kitchen, heater, air conditioner and a fireplace. The park rents five cabins, which are often booked several months in advance. Pets are not permitted in the rental cabins.

St. Petersburg/Madeira Beach KOA

This campground is 2 miles from the gulf beaches and is close to the Pinellas Trail, a popular Florida mountain biking trail. Accommodations at this site include one- or two-room cabins, studio lodges, chalet lodges and deluxe lodges. The smaller cabins sleep four people, while the larger cabins and lodges sleep up to six. All units offer a kitchen or kitchenette, private bath, heater, air conditioner and a patio or deck.
This KOA campground features an outdoor pool and hot tub as well as a convenient fishing dock. Bikes, canoes and golf carts are available for rent on the premises, and pets are welcome. Wi-Fi access is offered for an additional fee.
