Cabins in Summersville, West Virginia are close to a couple of recreation areas: the Gauley River National Recreation Area for trout fishing and the Canyon Rim Trails in New River Gorge National Recreation Area, with more than 50 miles of hiking. Twenty-five miles of the Gauley River, within the Gauley River National Recreation Area, is some of the country's best whitewater activities. Hawks Nest State Park, just 28 miles south of Summersville, has a mile-long Fisherman's Trail for hiking along the New River with access to fishing. Rock climbing on Lake Summersville is near the Mountain Lake Campground, Summersville Lake Retreat and Wilderness Lake Chalets.

Mountain Lake Campground

Mountain Lake Campground has four fully furnished cabins located on the shores of Lake Summersville. Lake swimming, a heated swimming pool, hiking trails, kids' swimming pool, and 18-hole mini-golf is available. Two-bedroom cabins include TV and DVD, full bath (shower and tub) and full-size beds. Movies are available for check out from the gift shop.

Summersville Lake Retreat

The setting of the Summersville Lake Retreat is around Lake Summersville and the Gauley River National Recreation Area. Fishing boat, pontoons, canoes and kayaks are available for rental. Outdoor amenities include volleyball and horseshoe pits.

Cabins have a living room, dining room, kitchen and bedroom downstairs, with a bedroom loft upstairs. The bedroom downstairs has a king or queen bed, and the bedroom loft upstairs has a full size bed or twin beds. Baths have a Jacuzzi tub for two, or a regular shower/tub and towels for six people. The kitchen is equipped with dishes and utensils for serving six people.

Wilderness Lake Chalets

Wilderness Lake Chalets has 12 chalet-style cabins (A-frame) with a master bedroom, full bath (towels provided), living area with gas fireplace, private desk, bedroom loft, full kitchen and dining area. All cabins are heated and air-conditioned, and include ceiling fans. Some cabins have hot tubs and outdoor gas grills. Kitchens include stove top and oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker; linens are provided.
