Irving, Texas, a large suburb of Dallas, is home to numerous corporate headquarters. Just minutes from the shiny skyline of Dallas, Irving has taken on these large businesses and the restaurants have followed. Just about every cuisine and culture are represented in this sprawling town. Thai restaurants are not difficult to find in Irving as they are all located north of Airport Freeway, which runs east to west from Dallas to Tarrant County, and south of Interstate Highway 635 or LBJ Freeway. Major highways, such as the George Bush Turnpike and Highway 114, also converge at this point, which makes any of these restaurants easy to reach and minutes from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Bangkok Orchid Thai Restaurant

Travelers should not let the location fool them. Bangkok Orchid is a gem of a find near Irving Mall on Airport Freeway. Hidden in a strip shopping center next to Target, is this amazingly lovely restaurant. With a friendly staff, welcoming decor, gentle music and scrumptious food diners can't go wrong choosing this establishment. It is recommended to try their Peanut Chicken, Crying Pork, Beef Salad, Panang Curry, Beef Pad Thai, Tom yum seafood soup or any of their moderately priced offerings. Spice ratings are one to five and they do a great job hitting the level. The restaurant's presentation with fresh orchids is the icing on the cake. Hours of operation are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 12 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and closed on Monday.

Blu Ginger Thai Café

Blu Ginger Thai Cafe is an upscale, tranquilly decorated Thai restaurant with nice outdoor seating and a moderately priced lunch special at $7.99 which includes appetizer and soup. Great happy hour offerings from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday include $3 for house wine, specialty beers, margaritas and well drinks, and $4 appetizers.

Pad Thai

This unassuming, family-owned Thai restaurant is a local favorite. With a $5.75 buffet, which includes sushi, tax and WiFi, Pad Thai is a stand-out among the college students and long-time patrons. Delicious, fresh and flavorful food has kept this restaurant in operation for years. For desert, diners indulge in some Thai tea, a sweet, milky beverage served over crushed ice.

Basil Leaf

Fresh, healthy ingredients and very little oil make the dishes at Basil Leaf worth a visit. A knowledgeable staff is eager to make every visit pleasant. Chef Won skillfully blends the perfect amount of spices and flavors to make this a stand-out Thai spot. A large menu is offered including specialties, such as stir fry, curried noodles and delicious drunken noodles (Pad kee mow). Pretty purple decor makes this an enjoyable place to dine. The restaurant is closed Sundays. Carry out and deliveries are offered in addition to restaurant seating.
