Colorado offers some of the greatest skiing in the United States and many of these resorts are found just an hour drive from Golden, a western suburb of Denver. All resorts feature incredibly varied terrain for beginners to experts and plenty of fine dining and lodging options. Each resort has its own unique style and character.

Winter Park Ski Resort

Winter Park is a premier ski destination located off of Highway 40 about 60 miles northwest of Golden. Winter Park has over 3000 acres of skiable terrain for all abilities as well as luxurious accommodations and plenty of dining and shopping options right within the resort. Not to be missed, the Lodge at Sunspot is located at the top of Winter Park Mountain and features a five-course meal package complete with a moonlit gondola ride to the top of the mountain for an incredible evening to remember.

Breckenridge Ski Resort

Breckenridge Ski Resort is located right off of Interstate 70 about 72 miles west of Golden. Breckenridge if one of the most loved ski areas in all of North America and was rated as one of the best five ski resorts in the world by the BBC according to Vail Resorts. The ski area with 2,358 acres of skiable terrain and 30 ski lifts makes Breckenridge Summit County, Colorado's largest ski area. The resort offers a variety of lodging options from slope-side condos to bed and breakfasts in the historic old mining town of Breckenridge.

Copper Mountain Ski Resort

Copper Mountain Ski Resort is a destination ski resort located about 69 miles west of Golden. Copper Mountain's 2,450 acres of skiable terrain includes a wide variety of beginner runs, bowl and tree skiing, mogul runs, and terrain parks. A great feature of Copper Mountain is that all of the terrain is naturally arranged by ability level. As skiers advance to the east side of the resort, the terrain gets increasingly more difficult. Copper has a great variety of lodging and dining options located right on the slopes of the resort.

Loveland Ski Area

Loveland Ski Area is located off of Interstate 70 about 48 miles west of Golden, Colorado. Loveland is one of the closest ski areas to the Denver metro areas, making it a favorite among Colorado locals. The ski area's 1,570 acres of skiable terrain provides a good variety of terrain for the beginner, intermediate and advanced skier. Loveland is one of the highest ski areas in Colorado with a summit elevation of 13,010 feet and touts an average snowfall of 400 inches a year.
