Hodad's

Hodad's has been a favorite hangout of the Ocean Beach crowd for more than three decades. Best known for its bacon burgers and milkshakes, Hodad's also serves tuna sandwiches, grilled cheese, fries and onion rings. The atmosphere is casual; with license plates and surfboards covering the walls. Beach attire is the norm, and the restaurant's website boasts, "No shoes, no shirt, no problem." Beer and wine are available. Hodad's is open Sunday through Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Croce's Restaurant and Jazz Bar

After strolling the Gaslamp Quarter, relax at Croce's Restaurant and Jazz Bar. Specialties include Grilled Swordfish with Mediterranean green olive tapenade, maple-glazed pistachio dusted rack of lamb, and grilled duck breast with barley risotto. Croce's offers live music nightly, honoring the late singer and songwriter, Jim Croce. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered. An extensive wine list is available. Dinner is served from 5:30 p.m. to midnight daily. Breakfast and lunch are offered 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekends only. Reservations are accepted.

Pacific Beach Bar & Grill

Only two blocks from Crystal Pier, Pacific Beach Bar and Grill offers Mexican food, pizza, pasta, salads, seafood, and steaks. The specials, like Taco Tuesdays and Taste of Italy Thursdays, make the restaurant popular with the locals. Pool tables, darts and 72 televisions, showing satellite sporting events, entertain diners. If you're in the mood for something sweet, try the bunuelo, a crispy tortilla bowl topped with cinnamon, sugar, ice cream, and carame. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 1:45 a.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 a.m.

Tom Ham's Lighthouse

Follow Sunday brunch at Tom Ham's Lighthouse with a sail around Harbor Island. The brunch buffet has something for everyone, including made-to-order omelets, waffles, ribs, enchiladas, salads, oysters, shrimp, crab legs and pastries. Tom Ham's serves lunch Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and dinner nightly, 4:30 p.m.to 10:00 p.m. Happy hour is Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., when you can order the house signature cocktail, The Beacon, and drink specials and appetizers.
