Located in the northernmost area of Kentucky and to the east, Burlington is a part of Boone County. Home to around 10,000 residents this region is popular for its warm, friendly people; beautiful, natural setting; and lush, green mountains. Nearly 1,000 acres of land and open space awaits visitors along with 13 parks. Whether you choose to go swimming at Union Pool, play horseshoes, or enjoy hiking, biking, tennis or volleyball, plenty of options abound. The Boone County Arboretum at Central Park boasts 121 acres and is a botanical garden focusing on trees and woody shrubs. It offers 12 sports' fields and a 2-mile winding trail. When ready to refuel, various Chinese restaurants occupy the area.

Golden Wok

Guests stepping foot through the door of Golden Wok enjoy traditional Chinese music, pictures of popular homeland places and a large television airing documentaries particular to China. Proud of their cultural roots and cuisine, Golden Wok chefs use the freshest ingredients possible and create light, heart-healthy fare prepared solely in woks. Serving lunch and dinner, the menu includes meat, seafood, vegetables and poultry. Dishes offered are pad thai, teriyaki chicken, bourbon chicken, pork lo mein, jumbo shrimp with vegetable and three seafood combination. Appetizers, soups and house specials are also available. Portions are large, and prices are very affordable. Open seven days a week.

China Wok

China Wok is a chain restaurant located less than five miles from Burlington, and locals vow it's worth the quick drive. The main dining room is open and light, and decor is simple. Service is fast and friendly, and servers are open to special requests. Open six days a week and closed on Sundays, China Wok serves lunch and dinner. The menu offers seafood, poultry, vegetarian, beef and pork dishes. Entrees include beef cashew din, cantonese lo mein, sweet and sour pork, shrimp kow and sesame chicken. Various house specials are available, such as mongolian beef, lichee duck and the imperial steak. Family dinners, kids' meals, Szechwan and American cuisine versions are also options. Prices are affordable. Frankfort also has a China Wok restaurant.

Shanghai Garden

A quick 10-minute drive delivers you to the casual, relaxing atmosphere of Shanghai Garden. Open to taking dietary request changes as well as altering the spiciness of regular dishes, the staff is also hospitable and courteous. Serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, menus carry lo mein, mai fun, poultry, beef, seafood and pork among other choices. Dishes offered are shrimp with broccoli, shanghai rolls, Hong Kong chicken, mongolian beef, jumbo shrimp with mushroom and twice-cooked pork. Prices are very reasonable and special "party order" is available.
