PiPS Cucina & Wine Bar

PiPS Cucina & Wine Bar is owned by Rino Armeni. The restaurant's name can be traced to 1973, when "Playboy" founder Hugh Heffner and entrepreneur Joe Di Carlo opened a location in Los Angeles. The PiPS legacy ended in 1986, when Di Carlo retired. When Armeni decided to open his own restaurant, Di Carlo offered him the use of the name.

PiPS' traditional Italian menu includes such appetizers as Prosciutto and melon, shrimp scampi and Panzerotti, which is a trio of mini calzones. The selection of fresh salads includes such choices as black figs baked with spices and served on arugula with blue cheese dressing and a chopped salad with roasted peppers and red wine dressing. The entree selection includes chicken or veal parmigiana in a mozzarella and tomato sauce; chicken or veal marsala in a baby portobello mushroom sauce; Italian meatloaf stuffed with mozzarella, mortadella (an Italian sausage) and capers; and eggplant Parmesan with a twist, as well as such pasta dishes as spaghetti, lasagna and gnocchi. PiPS offers such sides as risotto, spicy green beans, meatballs, mashed potatoes and asparagus.

PiPS is near Aliante Nature Discovery Park, which offers basketball courts, softball, soccer and baseball fields, as well as a man-made duck pond. In addition, Aliante Golf Club, an 18-hole championship golf course, is nearby. PiPS is tastefully decorated with marble floors, lush gray carpeting and white stone columns.
