Asheville Cabins at Willow Winds

Sneak away to a resort nestled amid evergreens and only 50 minutes away from Wolf Ridge and Sugar Mountain ski resorts. Asheville Cabins at Willow Winds is a collection of one-, two- and three-bedroom cabins with forest, mountain, pond and waterfall views. Chris's Cabin, a historic hand-hewn log cabin, is the only rustic cabin at the resort. All others are luxury cabins, some as large as 2,500 square feet. Some have indoor or outdoor hot tubs; Dad's Diggs cabin has both. For a more unusual stay, book the octagonal-shaped Jackie's Gem cabin, with upper and lower desks and an outdoor hot tub. Tom's Trophy cabin is steps away from the Mountains-to-the-Sea Trail. All cabins are fully equipped with necessities including washers and dryers, and all have fireplaces. A fully stocked trout pond is on the property. Smoking is not permitted in these cabins, and pets are not allowed on the property.

The Cabins at Seven Foxes

The Cabins at Seven Foxes, tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina, is just an hour's drive from the Asheville airport. Choose from five cabins, all of which have fully equipped kitchens, telephones, satellite TV, VCR/DVD players, gas fireplaces, central heat and air, private porches and gas grills. The Deer Lodge, designed to accommodate a family or large group, also features an outdoor hot tub. These cabins are a 15-minute drive to hiking trails in Pisgah National Forest, and Gorges State Park and a 30-minute drive to Dupont State Forest. Friendly, house-broken and flealess dogs over 15 months old are permitted with a $50 pet fee per stay.

Mountain Springs Cabins

Mountain Springs Cabins are a 10-minute drive from Asheville. At the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, these cabins are situated near streams, trails and waterfalls. All cabins are fully equipped and have gas log fireplaces, grills, bonfire pits, and porches with swings and rockers. Every cabin has cable TV, air conditioning and private telephones with no surcharge. Wireless Internet is available at the top of the hill near the office. Hike nearby trails at Pisgah National Forest, only two miles from the cabins, or fish for trout in a mountain stream. Play horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, soccer, tether ball and badminton in at the property's recreation area. There is also a playground for children. Pets under 25 pounds are allowed in pet-friendly cabins, but must be pre-approved. There is a two-pet limit and $10 per day, per pet charge. A $200 pet security deposit is required.
