Hotels in Daiba, Japan

Hotels in Daiba, Japan
Daiba, meaning "fort," sits on reclaimed land in Tokyo Bay, where Edo period canons blasted foreign ships entering the bay during the 1800s. Times have changed, and now Daiba is crowded with futuristic buildings, shopping malls and amusements for foreigners and Japanese alike. Daiba has a man-made beach, but swimming is not allowed. Instead, visitors participate in boating and wind surfing or simply stroll along the beach side boardwalk.

Tokyo Bay Ariake Washington Hotel

Tokyo Bay Ariake Washington Hotel is a quick walk from the Ariake Station. A standard business hotel, many guests stay at Tokyo Bay Ariake for the convenient location near the Tokyo Big Sight, also known as the Tokyo International Exhibition Center. The Western-style rooms are small, but include a double-size bed, free Internet, a desk and refrigerator. The hotel is close to restaurants and offers a free shuttle to Tokyo Disneyland.

For a curious Old Tokyo activity right in Daiba, ride the Yurikamome monorail to the hot spring theme park, Ooedo Onsen. Take a bath in milky, mineral pools with oxygenated water or the extra-hot thermal pool. When you are ready to cool off, put on the cotton kimono robe and pretend you are a Samurai on replica Edo-era streets lined with shops and restaurants.

Grand Pacific Le Daiba

Grand Pacific Le Daiba has magnificent views of Toyko Bay and the Rainbow Bridge, and is close to the monorail station, Aqua City and Odaiba Seaside Park. This upscale hotel has extensive public spaces and guest rooms. The large bathrooms include a Toto washlet toilet with a control pad and heated seats. Grand Pacific Le Daiba's European-style rooms include two twin-size or double-size beds and a refrigerator, but no Internet connection.

Nearby Aqua City is jammed with people and shopping malls, but offers a compelling photo opportunity of Tokyo's version of the Statue of Liberty. Thankfully, Odaiba Seaside Park is a break from all the fuss and a favorite spot for couples to take a romantic walk. Be sure to follow the boardwalk over to the Rainbow Bridge. This iconic Daiba backdrop, spans Tokyo Bay with walking paths over the bridge for pedestrians by day, and striking views of Tokyo at night.
