Glen Ridge is a town in New Jersey, created out of portions of Bloomfield Township. You can bike along the Glen Bike Path and take a rest in the gazebo. It has nine parks offering sports fields and tennis courts. Visit the Freeman Gardens, which is maintained by resident volunteers. Being only 1.3 square miles, several restaurants can be found in neighboring Bloomfield.

Fitzgerald's 1928

Fitzgerald's offers an eclectic bistro menu featuring varied appetizers such as mussels in a garlic oregano sauce, Thai chicken skewers with cilantro and lime, and quesadillas with avocado and red onion. It has three-course specials Monday through Thursday night. Entrees include steak frites, grilled salmon and pulled barbecue pork sandwiches. Fitzgerald's also offers a Sunday brunch and children's menu, and take-out is available from the bar menu. It hosts frequent entertainment by local bands, featuring Irish session music and Beatles open mic nights.

Cosimo's Trattoria

Cosimo's Trattoria is a family-owned restaurant with the owners' sons and daughter as the chefs, pizza maker and waiter. They serve brick-oven pizza and 42 dinner entrees as well as a lunch menu. The dishes include spidini alla romana (mozzarella, prosciutto and bread layers accompanied by an anchovy caper sauce). Pastas vary from orecchiette with shrimp and broccoli to farfalle with peas, prosciutto and onion in a pink cream sauce. Reservations are suggested for Friday and Saturday evenings. You can bring your own wine or beer without a corkage fee. Cosimo's also provides catering with enough space to host an event at the restaurant or full- or half-size trays for off-site events.

Bohemia

Another dining option close to Glen Ridge is the Bohemia Restaurant, offering Latin American cuisine and a South American wine list. House specialties include tostones Bohemios, which are fried plantains filled with ceviche made with a combination of shrimp, octopus, squid and tilapia. A New York Times food critic called the entrees exuberant and praised the pisco sour drink served with beaten egg whites, sugar, lime juice and a Peruvian grape brandy.
