In 1836, Jacob Coil established the town of Broad Ripple on the banks of the White River. This city was incorporated in 1884, and in 1922 Broad Ripple annexed into Indianapolis. Today, this city has the Monon Trail (a 10.5-mile bike and walking trail), Broad Ripple Park, unique shops, dining, and is located near several hotels.
