Babbitt, Nev., located in Mineral County, was a community built by the U.S. government to house employees of the nearby Hawthorne Naval Ammunition Depot during World War II. The community itself no longer exists, but there are several nearby tourism attractions, including the Mineral County Museum and the Hawthorne Ordnance Museum. Nearby mountain ranges, such as the Wassuk Range and the Gillis Range, are perfect for hiking and mountain climbing. Other outdoor sports available in Mineral County include camping, water skiing, fishing, biking, horseback riding, parasailing, jet skiing, golfing and hunting.
