Motels in Branford, CT

Motels in Branford, CT
Branford, a central Connecticut town east of New Haven that overlooks Long Island Sound, is known for its antiquing and its historic homes, some dating back to the 17th century. The wooded terrain offers many biking and hiking trails, as well as a canoeing route through the Thimble Islands, which are known for their stunning pink granite. Staying in or near Branford is a reasonable alternative to staying in the often-bustling New Haven.

Motel 6 Branford

The Motel 6 can be found south of Interstate 95 at exit 55. Its bargain-priced rooms are the cheapest in Branford. They include cable TV, chairs, tables and mini-fridges. The rooms are clean and basic but not fancy. They do not come with clocks, ironing boards or coffee pots. The motel offers free coffee in the lobby every morning. Make sure to bring your own amenities; the Motel 6 does not provide free shampoo. Guests may bring pets for an extra fee, though service animals may stay for free.

Days Inn Branford

Located just to the north of Interstate 95 at exit 55, the Days Inn offers reasonably priced rooms at slightly higher rates than Motel 6. For the extra money, guests get rooms equipped with a coffee pot, an ironing board, a hair dryer, high-speed Internet access and a television with premium cable stations. While the rooms have extra amenities, the decor is not that different from what you would find at Motel 6. The inn does serve continental breakfast and 24-hour complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate service in the lobby. The Days Inn also has an outdoor swimming pool and a recently remodeled meeting space. A Mexican restaurant called Chucky's can be found nearby.

Holiday Inn Express Branford-New Haven Hotel

The recently built Holiday Inn Express sits farther south than Motel 6 or the Days Inn. This hotel is more expensive than the other two, but for the extra money, you receive more amenities than you would at the Days Inn. The complimentary breakfast offers more than a bagel or danish, and the large rooms come free high-speed Internet access and a bathroom shower with a good shower head. Guests also can enjoy the indoor pool and whirlpool. If you plan on staying in the area a while, or if the trip is part of a longer journey, you may want to spend the extra money to stay at the Holiday Inn Express for the on-site laundry facilities.
