Lake Conroe, a man-made lake on the west fork of the San Jacinto River, is seven miles west of the city of Conroe, Texas. It has an average depth of 21 feet with a maximum depth of 75 feet. Lake Conroe has an annual fall fishing tournament for bass (largemouth, white and hybrid striped). Record bass fish caught, on January 30, 2009, was a largemouth bass weighing 15.93 pounds. The Lone Star Hiking Trail includes a 40-mile section around Lake Conroe and can be hiked year-round.

Castaways Cabins

Castaways Cabins is situated on the northwest shore of Lake Conroe with 2,000 feet of waterfront and many shade trees. It has a boat launch, canoe rentals, swimming pool with a kids' pool, fishing, tennis-basketball-volleyball courts, horseshoes and picnic area. Some conveniences offered are dry storage, laundry facilities and club house.

Six rental cabins are available with air-conditioning and heating and can sleep up to eight people. Cabins are surrounded by tall trees, and include a bath with full shower, a sleeping loft, a porch and barbecue pit with picnic table.

Lake Conroe/Houston North KOA

Lake Conroe/Houston North KOA is located on Montgomery, just minutes from Lake Conroe and its 157 miles of shoreline. Amenities available are Wi-Fi, cable TV, telephone service (charge), snack bar, pavilion/meeting room, swimming pool and hot tub.

Each cabin has a full kitchen with microwave and refrigerator, dining and living area, a separate bedroom and bath with tub and shower. One-bedroom cabins sleep two to four people. Also, a two-bedroom, two bath cabin is available, and sleeps up to six people. The two-bedroom, two bath cabin has two twin beds, a queen bed, plus a sofa sleeper. Air-conditioning and heating are included in all cabins.

Lake Conroe--Thousand Trails

Lake Conroe--Thousand Trails includes membership amenities of boat docks and launch, laundry facilities, mini-golf, spa, paddle boats, horseshoe pits, hiking, swimming pool, trails and family center.

Four cabins in two styles are available for rental. All are equipped with a kitchenette, bath with a shower and front porch. Kitchenette includes a full-size refrigerator, microwave, three-burner stove top (no oven), coffee maker and cooking and eating utensils.

One of the two styles of cabins sleeps up to five people. It includes a sleeper sofa and a bunk style bed in one large living area. The bunk style bed has a double bed on the bottom with a single bed on top.

The other style of cabin sleeps four people. Each has a separate bedroom with a queen-size bed, and a living area with a sleeper sofa. In addition, the living area has a dining table with four chairs, and a TV and DVD.
