Close to Atlantic City and right on the Atlantic Ocean, Brigantine, New Jersey is a summer destination for water sports enthusiasts. This island has beaches, recreational facilities and an 18-hole Scottish Links golf course. For those interested in conservation, part of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge is located on the northern end of Brigantine Island. This refuge provides habitat for many endangered or threatened birds, including the American Bald Eagle. This is also a Marine Mammal Stranding Center, where injured animals are treated and released, as well as the legendary Brigantine Lighthouse. After exploring the area, visitors will probably want to find somewhere to eat. The area is home to several places to enjoy a quality meal.

Pirate's Den Restaurant

The Pirate's Den Restaurant has an extensive menu, and during the summer season it features early bird specials if you are seated by 5:30 p.m. This BYOB is open for breakfast, lunch and diner between Memorial Day and Labor Day, but has more sporadic hours during the fall and winter months, so call ahead. Most dishes are between $5 to $10 for lunch, while dinner can go as high as $25.

Laguna Grill & Martini Bar

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner all year long, the Laguna Grill & Martini Bar is located right on the beach in Brigantine, with a view of the Atlantic Ocean from the deck. The restaurant is also a popular spot for weddings and private parties because of its ideal location. Laguna Grill has an extensive wine and list and full drink menu, and dinner entrees start at $27.

Hooper's Seafood Cafe

Picked by "Philadelphia" Magazine for its Jersey Shore Guide in 2006, 2007 and 2009, Hooper's Seafood Cafe boasts 100 seafood preparations. This causal BYOB restaurant offers seafood, shellfish and steaks. Hooper's is open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch, and dinner is daily starting at 4 p.m. The average diner entree ranges from $15 to $22. As always, if plan on going during the off-season, it is recommended to call ahead.

Macedonian Grill

Owned by the Dounoulis family, the Macedonian Grill serves Greek and Mediterranian food as well as American standards, such as burgers and fries. This BYOB is available for eat-in or take out, and is open all year long. However, while the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner during the summer, it has limited hours in the winter, so call ahead.
