The village of Selston is in Nottinghamshire, northeast of London. It is part of the Hidden Valleys area of Nottinghamshire, where it sits atop a hill overlooking the Erewash Valley. The area is famous for its literary heritage that includes Lord Byron, D.H. Lawrence and the story of Robin Hood, and has ample walking, biking and horse trails. Many ancient churches are in the Hidden Valleys, and Selston itself has one of the oldest in Nottinghamshire, St. Helen's.

Dakota Hotel Nottingham

Dakota hotels are known for their luxury. It is the closest hotel to Selston, just on the other side of the M1 motorway, and focuses on making a guest's stay in the boutique hotel more than just a visit. The Derbyshire Hotel

The Derbyshire Hotel is a few minutes north of Selston. The hotel has chic yet comfortable decor and offers standard rooms and executive suites. Wireless Internet is available throughout the premise. Other amenities include a gym, a swimming pool and a spa. There are two restaurants at the hotel, Chatterley's for upscale dining and Chef's Table, which uses fresh, local fare.
Nearby is the town of Matlock, famous for its hot springs, and the Calke Abbey. The Derbyshire Hotel is also close to the Peak District.

The Boundary

Just north of Selston is the Boundary, an old fashioned English pub and inn with all the modern conveniences. The 13-room hotel is separate from the pub and perfect for travelers stopping for the night, or staying for several days to explore both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The inn offers king and double bedrooms with attached bathrooms, some that include Jacuzzis, as well as flat screen TV, wireless Internet and plush linens.
Owned and managed by locals, the staff knows the area and can provide insight into area attractions. Some favorite sights include Peak District National Park, historic manor tours and Sherwood Forest.
