Restaurants Near the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon
Portland, Oregon, is often called the "City of Roses," in part because of the beautiful International Rose Test Garden in Washington Park. New rose varieties are sent from around the world to be tested in Portland. There are nearly 8,000 rose plants in the garden that bloom from April through October, peaking in June. If you visit Washington Park, you can enjoy a meal at one of several restaurants near the rose garden.

Plainfields

Plainfields is located just 1/2 mile from the garden in the Meirs mansion, a converted Victorian with two floors of tables and rooms decorated with carved Hindu deities. The restaurant offers Indian cuisine, including vegetarian fare, at prices ranging from $25 to $35. In addition to a set menu that includes dishes like gosht saag pudeena and Bombay machi, the chef also prepares unique seven-course dinners with wine for a flat fee once a month. Couples will enjoy the romantic atmosphere. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner only.

RingSide Steakhouse

RingSide has been serving steak, seafood and other American cuisine since 1944. The dinning room is decorated in dark red hues, and the waiters in tuxedos contribute to the eatery's retro vibe. This upscale steakhouse offers an extensive wine list and house specialties including Kobe-style wagyu filet mignon. Add lobster tail or jumbo prawns to your steak or enjoy a fresh salad. Diners can stay warm by the fireplace or reserve a private dining room. Entrees can cost as much as $66. The RingSide is open daily for dinner only.

Elephants Delicatessen

For a quick and light meal, visit Elephants Delicatessen. This upscale deli offers everything from bagels to full gourmet meals and is a great place to pick up some food for a picnic in Washington Park. Pizzas, grilled burgers, mahimahi fish and chips, and grilled quesadillas are menu staples, but you'll also enjoy the variety of fresh breads and soups. After your meal, pick up some cheese, bread and cold cuts to go. Elephants also offers a full bar and a variety of appetizers to complement any cocktail. Main dishes cost between $6 and $15. Elephants has been open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner since 1979.
