Mellow Mushroom
With 100 locations in 15 states, Mellow Mushroom is anything but uniform. Each restaurant has its own vibe, including different logos for each location. The Decatur location offers team trivia every Wednesday night, so bring some friends and compete for some Mellow House Cash. Check out the online gear store for Mellow Mushroom apparel; the "I smell like pizza" shirt is a favorite of customers and crew alike. Promotions at Mellow Mushroom change often and include everything from football parties to photography contests.
The unique, casual atmosphere doesn't mean the menu is overlooked. In addition to pizza and beer -- each location carries local brews along with the standard options -- munchies include tortilla soup, hummus and the stuffed portobello mushroom, a mushroom cap served with garlic butter, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, feta and mozzarella cheeses. If you want to try something new, the avocado hoagie, made with avocados, lemon juice, French or wheat bread, melted provolone, onions and sprouts, might fit the bill.
