Long Beach Island has a number of beach communities where you can participate in outdoor activities. Jog, walk, swim, boat, play volleyball or participate in water sports in Barnegat Light, Beach Haven, Harvey Cedars, Long Beach Township, Ship Bottom and Surf City. Long Beach Island also has amusement parks, shops and restaurants where you can enjoy a meal.

A Little Bite of Italy

A Little Bite of Italy is owned by a classically trained French chef. The restaurant serves traditional Italian dishes, homemade soups and pastas, sub sandwiches, salads, pizza, calzones, and meat and rice balls. Patrons will find homemade Italian dishes such as veal, chicken, eggplant or meatball parmigiana with ziti and meat or vegetarian lasagna. Other specialties include stuffed mushrooms, imported Italian artichokes, homemade bruscetta, and sausages. A Little Bite of Italy also has a full Italian deli that's open all year round where you can buy imported Italian cheeses and prosciutto. If you have a sweet tooth, indulge in Italian pastries and homemade desserts. Catering services are offered.

Surf City Hotel, Restaurant, Beach Club and Clam Bar

Surf City Hotel's restaurant, clam bar and pub is a few steps away from the Atlantic Ocean and serves lunch and dinner. It is within walking distance to a miniature golf course and tennis courts. The restaurant is considered a historic landmark on Long Beach Island and serves American food such as seafood, steaks, prime rib, soups and salads and desserts. Food is served until 10 p.m. and you can order snacks until midnight. A kids' menu is available. The pub serves light entrees, burgers and snacks and is open at noon. Happy hour is from 3 to 5 p.m. weekends in May, June and September and weekdays in July and August. Shucks Clam Bar serves an award-winning clam chowder. You also can order clams on the half shell, burgers and daily specials and snacks.

Boat House Restaurant

At Boat House Restaurant, you can dine by the waterfront and enjoy dishes prepared by an executive chef. The restaurant is a place for a romantic evening or casual dining with the family and is a venue for wedding receptions. Large groups are also accommodated on the waterfront patio, and custom menu options are available. Fresh seafood is delivered to the restaurant every morning. Menu choices include coconut-encrusted shrimp, New York strip steak, garlic scallops, tequilla lime mahi mahi, penne a la vodka, steamed lobsters and pan-seared tuna.
