Italian Restaurants in Edmonton, Alberta
Situated on the North Saskatchewan River, Edmonton is the capital of Alberta and the second largest city in the province. Known for its scenic river valley and North America's longest connected urban parkland, this city is also home to the Waskahegan Trail, a 146-mile hiking and biking trail. Aside from its massive mall, many festivals and famous beef, Edmonton also houses almost 2,000 food shops and some of the best Italian restaurants in the province.

Allegro Italian Kitchen

After apprenticing at other well-known Italian restaurants, Rico Ferri and Jack Menghisteab decided to put up their very own Allegro Italian Kitchen at West Edmonton. Fifteen years later, their kitchen became a favorite so they opened another branch in downtown. According to the owners, the theme of the restaurant is supposed to depict an uptown New York-style eatery with large picture windows and contemporary furnishings. At night, Allegro lives up to its name as they start playing the piano to entertain guests. During summer, patrons can dine at the patio and choose from a variety of wine selection to pair with the highly recommended Bucatini alla Puttanesca piccante. Just a block away from Crestwood Park, diners can enjoy a leisurely walk or play a round of golf at the nearby courses.

il Pasticcio Italian Restaurant

Located just across the historic LeMarchand Mansion in downtown Edmonton, il Pasticcio Italian Restaurant has been opening its patio and well-stocked bar to its diners since 1995. This restaurant is well known for making pasta sauces from scratch and for infusing a wide selection of vegetarian dishes in their menu. Their servings are also big enough for sharing. Since the restaurant usually has long line, diners are advised to arrive early or call for reservations. After a filling lunch or dinner, patrons can burn off some calories at the River Valley Park, which is only a mile away, to enjoy hiking, biking, fishing or canoeing.

Just three blocks from Arthur Elliot Park Outdoor Rink, where people can enjoy ice skating in winter, this family-owned restaurant creates a cozy and comfortable atmosphere with its dark wooden tables and high-backed leather chairs. Also catering to parties and other big events, Vita Bella offers home-cooked style meals that are reasonably priced and come in big servings. Its menu highlight is the Lamb Osso Bucco, and the diners' favorite is the Gamberoni.
