Italian Restaurants Near Johns Creek, Georgia
Johns Creek, Georgia, home to 60,000 residents, is between the cities of Alpharetta and Duluth, Georgia. The Big Creek Greenway Trail System in Alpharetta, with 8.3 miles of concrete trail runs along Big Creek, provides hikers a close-up view of wildlife, such as ducks, deer and blue heron, in the wetlands. Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area offers the hiker 50 miles of trails with 16 parks such as Johnson Ferry South, Vickery Creek and Medlock Bridge. Italian restaurants close to the trail system include Pasta Vino, Sugo Restaurant and Tapas, and Verra-Zanno Pizzeria.

Pasta Vino

Pasta Vino serves Italian fare, including entrees such as chicken parmigiana, shrimp parmigiana, stromboli, calzone, and 10 varieties of pizza such as white, meat lover's and margherita. Three appetizers are served at dinner, including gamberi griglia (jumbo gulf shrimp served on bread with seasonings), hot carrozza (fried mozzarella cheese) and rollantine di melanzane (baked stuffed eggplant).

You can create your own pasta dish with sauces such as alfredo, meatball and marinara from the lunch and dinner menus. Fourteen specialty pasta dishes are offered at dinner, including baked ziti, linguine with clam sauce and shrimp scampi. Seven entrees are offered at lunch. Eighteen entrees are offered for dinner, including chicken marsala, eggplant parmigiana and chicken milanase (dressed with jalapenos, tomatillos, garlic and onions).

Sugo Restaurant and Tapas

Sugo Restaurant and Tapas offers vegetarian and gluten-free menus. The vegetarian menu includes tapas dishes such as spanakopita, a Greek pie made with spinach, ricotta cheese and onions, and Euro-mushrooms (sauteed shiitake, oyster and portobello mushrooms). Also on the vegetarian menu are European specialties such as beggar's purse, which is made of pouches of pasta with mozzarella, provolone, fontina, and asiago cheese stuffed inside them.

Gluten-free menu includes the Euro-mushrooms as well as grilled specialty sausages with date balsamic vinegar. European specialties include Roman chicken cacciatore made with dark chicken meat and served with grilled Italian peppers and a tomato sauce.

Sugo has a covered patio with outdoor seating. It is open for dinner every day but Sunday (closed).

Verra-Zanno Pizzeria

Verra-Zanno Pizzeria includes Italian specialties such as penne broccoli, spaghetti with clams, and Italian antipasto salad. Vegetable, chicken or sausage rolls are a baked specialty made on site and served with marinara sauce. Hand-tossed pizzas, such as deluxe versions of bianca (white), vegetable or meat, are offered. A create-your-own pizza menu item is included. Fourteen hero sandwiches include a traditional Italian made with salami, capicola, roasted red peppers and melted provolone. Another notable hero sandwich is the Philly cheese steak.

Verra-Zanno Pizzeria is open every day. On Monday through Saturday, lunch and dinner is served. On Sunday, Verra-Zanno Pizzeria is only open for dinner.
