Grandfather Mountain is one of North Carolina's most famous ridges and it is only a short drive from Boone. The mountain has a wildlife preserve, is a haven for naturalists, and is a hiker's dream. Highland Hills Motels and Cabins features eight cabin types to choose from.They range from one-bedroom, one-bathroom units to three-bedroom, two-bathroom units. All cabins come equipped with a fireplace, fully equipped kitchens (with the exception of the weekender cabins), living room and dining room area, a sleeper sofa, cable television and a front porch. This establishment is only minutes away from Grandfather Mountain. There are also eight restaurants within a mile of these cabins. Restaurants include Sagebrush Steakhouse & Saloon and Mr. Original Gyro's. No pets are allowed at these cabins.

Boone Cabin Rentals

Boone Cabin Rentals feature eight luxurious cabins. The cabins accommodate between 2 and 25 people. They range from three-bedroom, two-bathroom units to eight-bedroom, four-bathroom units. All cabins come with the basic amenities including cable television, a hot tub on the deck, a fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen. This establishment is minutes from Appalachian State University. Ski packages are available; please call to inquire. As of January 2010, they do not accept credit cards.

Honey Bear Campground

Honey Bear Campground features two cabins. Cabin C-8 accommodates up to four people. This one-bedroom cabin features a small kitchen, one full bathroom, one bedroom with a full-sized bed and a set of bunk beds. Other amenities include a separate living room, cable television with a DVD player, a fire pit and a picnic table. There is no air conditioning. Cabin D-5 accommodates up to six people. This two-bedroom cabin features cable television with a DVD player, a porch with a large swing, a fire pit and a picnic table. Other amenities include a living room with a full-sized sofa sleeper and a kitchen. This unit does not have air conditioning. Linens are not provided, but can be arranged for a small charge. Honey Bear Campground also features laundry facilities, a public theater room, wireless Internet access and a camp store.
