New York Boat Clubs
New York has boat or yacht clubs throughout the state that are venues for boat owners and nonboat owners to enjoy. These clubs have active racing teams, offer educational classes, have tournaments for worthy causes and host social functions for members and guests. These clubs also have clubhouses with dining and bar facilities and many of the clubs rent out their facilities.

The City Island Yacht Club

The City Island Yacht Club, established in 1904, is a boating club with a view of the New York City skyline. It offers seminars on buying and selling yachts to members as well as participates in and sponsors regattas. The club also has a racing team that participates in tournaments throughout the state. This club organizes skiing trips and cruises for interested members, has social activities at the club and has a boat for rent. The City Island Yacht Club has a 24/7 launch service, deep-water docking and a sheltered mooring field. Available for weddings and private parties, the clubhouse has a restaurant, bar and a waterfront ballroom. New members are welcomed and encouraged to contact the club for more information.

The New York Yacht Club

The New York Yacht Club was started in 1844 and has two historical clubhouses: one in New York and one in Rhode Island. This club offers clinics, tournaments, cruises and regattas to its members, and the regattas are also used as fundraisers for worthy causes such as the Leukemia Society. The racing team competes in various cups with women and men. Both clubhouses have a grill for fine dining and a bar. This club encourages bonding and friendship among members and hosts social functions throughout the year. The New York Yacht Club has a 501(c) Foundation to receive gifts for the assistance in preserving the historic clubhouses.

The Sheepshead Bay Yacht Club

The Sheepshead Bay Yacht Club was established in 1908 on Rockaway Inlet. This is a member-run club with quick, easy access to the water from the subway, train, car or boat. This club is only 10 minutes away from Coney Island and Manhattan beaches by boat and the clubhouse overlooks the water. A bar with pool tables and dart boards is open seven days a week and the restaurant has indoor and outdoor dining. The Sheepshead Bay Yacht Club offers classes such as sailing and knot tying and hosts regattas with the racing team. This club also holds fishing tournaments and has fishing on the grounds. The clubhouse can be rented for weddings or parties and membership information is available by calling.
