Located on a bluff overlooking the Ouachita River, Camden, Ark. is famous for its Civil War history and historical markers. The McCollum-Chidester House served as a Union headquarters during the occupation of the town in the Red River Campaign of 1864. Fort Sutherland Park

Fort Sutherland Park, located in Camden, is also known as Fort Diamond. It was part of the fortifications started by Confederate troops during their 1864 occupation of Camden. The park is open to the public and has several picnic areas, walking trails and interpretive markers and exhibits.

Poison Spring State Park

Poison Spring State Park can be found southeast of Bluff City, just a short drive from Camden. The park commemorates the Battle of Poison Spring in the Civil War, which was part of the 1864 Camden Expedition. It was declared a national historic landmark in 1994. Poison Spring State Park includes forests and walking trails, where deer and woodpeckers are often seen. The park also contains several picnic areas and interpretive exhibits.

The Cottage on Church Street

The Cottage on Church Street is located in El Dorado, just a few miles outside of Camden. The two-bedroom, two-bath unit features a whirlpool tub, antique furnishings, a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, cable television, VCR, Internet, a private deck and a swing. The Cottage can be found on a quiet street and is close to several of the historical Civil War sites in Camden.
