Tarrytown, New York, is a small village on the banks of the Hudson River and offers a number of dining choices to fit any budget and taste. Home to many historic sites, including the oldest theater in Westchester County, the area is a short commute to New York City. In the neighboring town of Sleepy Hollow, visit the cemetery where the "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" was said to have taken place. Nearby Rockefeller State Park offers hiking, boating, snowshoeing and horseback riding on over 1,400 acres.

Lefteris Gyro specializes in authentic Greek cuisine. Voted "Best Greek Restaurant" for two consecutive years by Westchester Magazine, the restaurant offers an extensive menu of Greek favorites at bargain prices. Start with a choice from the lengthy list of appetizers including mambaildi (stewed eggplants with zucchini), spanakopita (spinach pie), saganaki (cheese flambe) and dolmades (stuffed grape leaves). Choose from several types of hot sandwiches, gyros and platters for the main course. Finish with one of several Greek deserts such as kataifi, baklava or homemade Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts. If you can't get enough of the dressing from your Greek salad, purchase a pint or quart of the restaurant's special dressing to enjoy at home. As of early 2010, the average entree price was around $12.50.

Equus Restaurant

Dine in style at the 5-star Equus Restaurant. In a century-old castle atop a hill, the restaurant serves gourmet meals in one of three dining rooms, each with its own unique design and atmosphere. Reservations are required and attire is business casual, although a jacket is strongly suggested for men. Three meals a day are served. Sample appetizers from the dinner menu include crispy phyllo brie in a cranberry port reduction, cockle clams and scallion and chevre tortellini. Entrees include organic breast of chicken with forest mushroom sauce, tandori swordfish and red lentils topped with mango salsa and rack of lamb dusted with cumin seed. Breakfast includes buttermilk pancakes with wild berry syrup, Chesapeake Bay eggs benedict and challah bread French toast with caramelized apples. The menu changes seasonally and uses the freshest ingredients available. Base price for an entree started at $27 as of early 2010.

Isabella Bistro Italian Restaurant

Isabella Bistro Italian Restaurant has been serving customers since November 2004. The restaurant specializes in Italian cuisine from Northern and Southern Italy as well as traditional recipes from Campania and Salerno. Decorated with a European flair, the atmosphere is comfortable and casual. Wine connoisseurs will enjoy the large selection of domestic and imported wines. Consider the gnocci alla Gennaro, which consists of potato dumplings with shrimp, asparagus and scallops topped with a tomato cream sauce. Or perhaps petto di pollo farcito, free range chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto, mushrooms, fontina cheese and sage topped with a wine sauce, would suite your taste. Entree costs as of early 2010 were in the $20 to $30 range.
