McCord Mountain Properties rental cabins are hidden away in the wilderness areas around Amicalola Falls and the Cartacey River. All cabins, which are completely furnished, include a full kitchen, two bathrooms, a Jacuzzi in all master bedrooms and a fireplace. Cable TV with a VCR completes the indoor amenities. Fishing, tubing, horseback riding, and hiking trails are a few of the activities available for guests. Guests can schedule a tee time at the White Path Golf Course, or take the 20-minute drive to Amicalola Falls State Park where the Appalachian Trail begins. Amicalola Falls is the largest waterfall east of the Mississippi and features 12 miles of trails that weave through this scenic area.

Amicalola Falls State Park
The cabins at the Amicalola Falls State Park are located below and above the 729-foot falls, and are fully furnished, each with a kitchen, sitting area, bedroom and bathroom, and some have a screened-in porch complete with chairs for relaxing. A number of the cabins are dog-friendly with a limitation of two dogs per cabin and a fee of $40 per dog. The lodge is open to all visitors and offers Wi-Fi connections. The Maple Leaf mountain top restaurant serves a Sunday buffet. There over 12 miles of hiking trails throughout the state park for the outdoor enthusiast. Guests can hike the 8.5 miles to the top of the falls to reach the top of Springer Mountain where the Appalachian Trail begins. Picnic areas, seasonal trout fishing, wildlife photography and special programs throughout the year add to the natural beauty of the area.

Under the Hemlock
Located on the edge of the Amicalola Falls State Park, Under the Hemlock campground has fully furnished, modern cabins for rent. Under the Hemlock has a quaint country store on site offering beverages and supplies as well as wild-crafted items, country treasures and woodland artifacts. A small sandwich shop and ice cream parlor provide a quick meal or cool treat after a day of exploration. Burt's Farm, located a few minutes south, provides seasonal produce, a corn maze, fresh baked goods and old-fashioned candy. Tourists might want to visit the Kangaroo Conservation Center to see the largest population of kangaroos outside of Australia. The Dawson Forest Wildlife Management area provides hiking, bird watching, horseback riding and canoe trips on the Etowah or Amicalola rivers.
