Hotels in the Seneca, New York Area
Located in the Finger Lakes Region, the area around Seneca was still considered frontier as late as the Revolutionary War. In the late 1700s, two white men obtained title to the territory from the Seneca Indians, and settlers, most of whom were poor farmers looking for land, poured in. Today, Seneca remains prime farm country, with fields full of oats, beans, corn, cabbage, wheat and Holstein dairy herds. Tourists can enjoy the scenic farming countryside, the region's 40-plus wineries and the impressive Seneca Lake, touted as the lake trout capital of the world.
