Grassmarket is a small area in Edinburgh, Scotland, within view of Edinburgh Castle. Named after the centuries' old cattle market that used to be in the main square, Grassmarket is now a vibrant, fashionable area of Edinburgh with boutiques, cafes and trendy restaurants. Here you can visit Malleny Garden, a National Trust, three-acre walled garden, and Edinburgh Castle and its famous dungeons, or head out of the city to one of the area's hiking or biking trails. Grassmarket also has several hotel options if you're planning a stay in town.

The Grassmarket Hotel

The Grassmarket Hotel is actually above Biddy Mulligan's Pub, and is a "room only" hotel. Its 45 bedrooms feature an en suite bath, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a hairdryer, iron and free Wi-Fi Internet throughout the hotel. The hotel is non-smoking. A full cooked Scottish breakfast with several options is available for a small charge at Biddy Mulligan's Pub every morning. The hotel is centrally located in the Grassmarket area, and is ideal for kayaking on the Firth of Forth or hiking Blackford Hill.
