Smoke Friendly Hotels in Amsterdam

Smoke Friendly Hotels in Amsterdam
Once you've enjoyed a riveting bike ride past the flea markets or a refreshing jog along the canals, there is no better way to relax in Amsterdam then to go to your room, take a shower and light up some Mary Jane. Because Marijuana culture is such a large part of the Amsterdam tourism industry, most hotels allow smoking within the rooms. However, some hotels are notably pro-smoker and even encourage smoking on their premises.

The Crown Hotel

This charming older hotel is located right in the heart of the Red Light District. Smoking is allowed in every room and in the hotel bar, where friends are encouraged to organize games of chess, billiards or dominos, or to gather together and enjoy their favorite sport on the big-screen television. The rooms are clean and comfortable, albeit a little small --which is where the hotel does show its age. Additionally, the hotel does not offer an elevator, so disabled visitors will need to find another place to stay or politely request only a first-story floor. Many of the 15 available guest rooms do not have a private restroom and visitors must share with other guests staying on their floor, each room does have its own sink though. The best rooms available in the hotel offer stunning views of the canal just outside and the neighboring red light districts across the way. Rooms come in a variety of sizes --even up to six people, guaranteeing you can find the perfect room for yourself, your romantic rendezvous or your rowdy gang of friends.

The Hemp Hotel

The Hemp Hotel is so into smoke that it is actually named for the multi-use cannabis fiber. They too have a smoke-friendly bar in the hotel, this one adorned from ceiling to floor with marijuana décor and pot leaf accents, and specializing in hemp beers. While the hotel is not located right in the Red Light District, it is only a short walk away and equally close to the famed Heineken Factory, making it an ideal location for partiers in the city.
The bedrooms are themed after many marijuana-smoker's favorite far-away locales such as Jamaica, India, Afghanistan and Tibet. Like the Crown, some of the rooms have shared bathrooms, while others have private restrooms. Many of the rooms feature hemp futons, hammocks and detailed murals to fit their theme. Some rooms also offer balconies with scenic views of the square below. Shampoos, soaps and other freebies provided by the hotel also contain hemp, maintaining the smoker-friendly vibe.

Greenhouse Effect Hotel

With one of its 17 rooms painted green and named "Mary Jane," you can be sure that the Greenhouse Effect Hotel, located in the heart of the Red Light District, is as smoker friendly as it gets. The hotel is made up of separate consecutive buildings, each of which offers a number of special themed rooms. Most of the rooms offer a restroom and between one and four single beds, though a few have at least one double bed and some have shared facilities. The four apartment hotel rooms have a living room, dining room, private bathrooms and a kitchen. All rooms have a mini-bar and cable television.
