Amesbury is a subdivision in the county of Athabasca in Alberta, Canada. Along the Athabasca River, it is a destination for ice fishing, snowmobiling on more than 350 miles of groomed trails, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. You can view the Northern Lights on clear nights but most easily from September to October and March to April. You can also go on a dogsled adventure for a few hours or a few days. Athabasca has 21 lakes that can be fished and rivers full of northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and cod. In more than 6,000 square kilometers of hunting area, you can find moose, whitetail deer, elk, black bear, coyotes, Canada geese and ruffed grouse. The Athabasca Gun Club also has a trapping and rifle range. RV and tenting facilities abound along Athabasca's lakes. You can also hike or bike on the Rotary Trail alongside the Athabasca River.
