The town of Field is located in British Columbia within the Yoho National Park. While hiking you can spot bears, elk, moose, birds and mountain sheep or view Takaka Falls, one of many spectacular waterfalls in the park. Camping and fishing are permitted in designated areas, but note that a license is required to fish in a national park. During the winter months you can ice climb, ski at either of two ski hills and resorts, snowshoe or ice skate on an outdoor natural skating rink surrounded by mountains. Emerald Lake Sports Shoppe provides local equipment rentals. Dog sledding tours with Alaskan Huskies are another option when visiting Field. The Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre offers the unique opportunity to walk with wild wolves. There are many mountain lodges and inns to choose from that are in the center of the park.

Kicking Horse Lodge

The Kicking Horse Lodge offers 14 rooms, each with private bathroom, queen-size beds, cable television and individual heat and air conditioning controls. High-speed wireless Internet access is available for a fee. There is also a family suite for four to six people that comes with a private kitchen, and two "hiker's suites" with private kitchenettes. The lodge offers guided hiking packages, as well as cross-country and downhill ski packages. There is an on-site restaurant, Truffle Pigs Bistro, which serves lunch and dinner and provides patio dining during the summer. The menu features cold-weather meals like duck leg confit, beef bourguignon and braised lamb shank. Train enthusiasts will also love the view from every room at the lodge where you can watch trains roll by on the historic rail lines of the Canadian Pacific.

Emerald Lake Lodge

Emerald Lake Lodge offers 24 cabins with private baths, balconies and wood-burning stone fireplaces. Amenities include feather duvets and pillows and coffeemakers. There are no televisions or Internet access in the rooms and no mobile phone reception in Yoho National Park, but there is a community television and Internet access in the game room at the main lodge. The lodge includes a lounge and bar, and the Mount Burgess Dining Room features roasted salmon, Pacific halibut, elk rib-eye steak and grilled buffalo striploin. The lodge was ranked the second top resort in Canada and 70th top resort in the world in Conde Nast Traveler's 2009 Reader's Choice Awards.

Canadian Rockies Inn

The Canadian Rockies Inn provides three suites offering a queen-size bed in a single room, a large studio apartment or a two-bedroom apartment. Some suites come with an equipped kitchen, dining area, pull-out sofa, cable television, private bathroom and private entrance. All suites have mountain views. Although there is no on-site dining, downtown Field's restaurant options are just a short drive. Pets are not permitted.
