Specialties include horseradish-crusted salmon, grilled chicken, mango pineapple-glazed pork chop, grilled Maine lobster and New York strip steak. Portobello also offers an extensive wine menu. The restaurant is open for lunch Monday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., and for dinner seven nights a week. A Sunday brunch is also available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Elm Street Grill

Another popular restaurant in Oakland is the Elm Street Grill, which specializes in pizzas, hamburgers, sandwiches and salads. Popular entrees include rib-eye steak, chicken wings, Alaskan snow crab and thin-crust pepperoni pizza. The restaurant has a lively, energetic atmosphere, with low lighting and soft music, and features an extensive bar offering martinis, cocktails, beer and wine. During the evening, the Elm Street Grill hosts a lively bar scene, with a happy hour offered from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Martini Night, featuring more than 36 discounted martinis, comes each Thursday. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Family-run for over 15 years, the Timbers offers such specialties as pecan-crusted chicken, filet mignon, grilled spicy pork medallions and shrimp scampi. The restaurant has a cozy, inviting atmosphere, with intimate tables and low lighting. The Timbers also offers catering and takeout. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday, and is closed on Mondays.
