Sparta is located in Gallatin County in north-central Kentucky. Situated near the Ohio River, which forms the Kentucky-Indiana border, the region is known as the state's racecar capital. It is home to the Kentucky Motor Speedway and hosts several national races. The area boasts many scenic waterways, including numerous lakes and ponds in and around Sparta, as well as plenty of forests for hiking.

As the name suggests, the Backwood Acres B&B is situated in the country, surrounded by pristine nature. The cabin's theme is that of hunters and fishers, and horses roam the grounds around the cabin. A fully furnished kitchen and living area are a part of the accommodations. Guests are invited to fish in the B&B's 2-acre pond that is filled with large-mouth bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish. Backwood Acres can also help in arranging boat rentals for the Ohio River.
