Swim at Glenwood Hot Springs Pool
Wikimedia Commons
Check out the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, which is open daily. The pool is a major tourist attraction as it contains more than 15 minerals that are said to provide a healthful effect on the body. Additionally, the water temperature is around 92 degrees F, which makes it a comfortable swimming experience even in cloudy or breezy weather. Do not wear any silver jewelry into the pool as the minerals in the water will tarnish it.

Wikimedia Commons
Drive about seven miles east of Glenwood Springs on Interstate 70 and take the Hanging Lake exit. You will reach a parking lot that also doubles as a rest area. This is where you will find the trailhead leading to Hanging Lake. The trail is very well maintained, and even though it is only about two miles round trip, you should be in decent shape for the ascent. The lake is a gorgeous turquoise, crystal clear and surrounded by rock formations and trees. Several waterfalls are also situated in the area. Swimming and fishing are not allowed. Also, dogs are not allowed on the trail.

Add spelunking with a twist to your Glenwood Springs vacation. Glenwood Caverns is an amusement park built around a cavern. The cave tours are docent-led and provide an interesting look at Colorado's geological idiosyncrasies. Depending on your fitness level, you might also sign up for the Wild Tour, which is open to spelunkers in top physical shape who do not mind crawling on their bellies, and weathering steep ascents and descents. The other attractions include a 4-D theater, rides, a climbing wall and lots of hands-on exploration for kids.
