Seafood Restaurants in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland

Seafood Restaurants in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland
The Chesapeake Bay is a massive estuary off the Atlantic Ocean and surrounded by both Maryland and Virginia. The word "Chesapeake" translates into something like "the great shellfish bay," no doubt due to the large amounts of blue crabs and oysters caught in its waters. It is also famous for the rockfish that frequent its depths. Here is a list of some of the region's more famous seafood restaurants.

Skipper's Pier

The staff at Skipper's Pier aims to provide you with the freshest fish possible with relevant seasonal ingredients. John Kozik is the owner and executive chef who has worked throughout the United States, and he brings his diverse experience to the Chesapeake Bay. Guests can dine inside or sit outside on the pier to enjoy the natural scenery. Some of the specials from Kozik's carefully crafted menu include the shrimp and crab pasta, and the fried Ipswich clam on an oyster roll. There is also a buffet loaded with crab legs, muscles, clams and hordes of shrimp.

Mike's Crab House

Mike's Bar and Crab House has been serving seafood to the people of Maryland since 1958. Its friendly atmosphere and adherence to tradition has made the restaurant a household name. All of its tables are adorned with "old bay" seasoning to provide the seafood taste that has made the Chesapeake Bay famous. While known for the steamed crabs, that is not the only dish that keeps customers coming back. Mike's warm-water lobster tail stuffed with crab has also made heads turn. They have a fully stocked wine menu, and a waiter will be glad to suggest one should you be in doubt.

Carrol's Creek Waterfront Restaurant

You can find Carrol's Creek Waterfront Restaurant on restaurant row, which is a famous eastport section of Annapolis. The dockside scenery gives guests a peaceful view of ships coming and going about their daily business. The Carrol family has been operating this restaurant since 1983, and they have achieved a reputation for providing a warm atmosphere and a friendly staff. Some of the menu favorites include the jumbo lump crab cakes served with caramelized onions and a mustard vinaigrette. Another entree worth mentioning is the macadamia-encrusted Mahi. Catering and banquets are also available for both small and large events.
